Here are a list of some of the richest contracts at the time. It seems that 2001 really starting busting the bank!
1999 Kevin Brown 105 million - The first 100 mil contract
2000 Ken Griffey Jr 116.5 million- to be fair, he had been probably the one who had earned it at the time, little did we know the future wouldn't be so bright
2001 Arod 252 million - Still an amazing figure almost 15 years later
2001 Derek Jeter - 189 million - Argument could be made that he had earned it and did a pretty good job of helping the Yankees get their money's worth
2001 Mike Hampton - 121 million - GULP! Are the Braves still paying on this??
