  • Dodgers Sign Juan Uribe For 2 Years $15 Million

Juan Uribe agrees to two-year deal with Los Angeles Dodgers - ESPN Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached agreement on a two-year contract worth $15 million with third baseman Juan Uribe, a source confirmed Saturday.

Uribe was coming off a three-year, $21 million deal.

After two dismal seasons with the Dodgers, Uribe batted .278 with 12 home runs and 50 RBIs while playing outstanding defense this past season.

He had the Dodgers' biggest hit of the postseason, a two-run home run off David Carpenter in the eighth inning of Game 4 of the NL Division Series against the Atlanta Braves.

    Uribe, 34, is a .253 lifetime hitter in 13 major-league seasons.

Retaining Uribe allows the Dodgers to leave slugger Hanley Ramirez at shortstop, a position he prefers.

Going into last week's winter meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said his top priorities were finding his third baseman and acquiring relievers.

Solid deal for both sides if Uribe doesn't tank offensively again.
