Carlos Marmol agrees to one-year, $1.25 million deal with Miami Marlins - ESPN

ISLA MARGARITA, Venezuela -- Carlos Marmol agreed Thursday to a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Miami Marlins, a source told ESPNDeportes.com.

The contract, subject to a physical exam, could include other incentives.

Marmol, 31, was 2-4 with a 4.41 ERA and two saves in 52 games last season with the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Before being traded to the Dodgers, he had played his entire career with the Cubs since his debut in 2006.

He served as Chicago's closer, saving 72 games during the 2010-11 seasons, but lost the job in the second half of the 2012 season. For his career, Marmol is 23-32 with 117 saves in seven seasons.

Marmol is playing in the Caribbean Series here with Tigres del Licey of the Dominican Republic. He has retired all six batters he has faced in two appearances.
