San Francisco Giants closing in on trade for Casey McGehee of Miami Marlins - ESPN
The San Francisco Giants are closing in on a deal to acquire third baseman Casey McGehee from the Miami Marlins, according to multiple reports.
McGehee would replace Pablo Sandoval, who signed last month with the Boston Red Sox.
The 32-year-old McGehee won NL Comeback Player of the Year honors after hitting .287 with 29 doubles, four home runs and 76 RBIs for Miami following a season with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League.
The Giants reportedly will ship two lower-level minor leaguers to the Marlins if the deal is completed.
"It's not a formality," San Francisco assistant general manager Bobby Evans told MLB.com, without specifically naming McGehee. "It's a process."
