What Makes Bowman so much more appealing?

I'm a big fan of Bowman/Topps products. Although usually when I break a box it's more often Bowman Platinum. Much more appealing designs to me than the Bowman chrome, not to mention much better value. I recently pulled the Buxton Black refractor auto out of 2014 platinum and it's a great looking card. Now to my point I'm 38 and have been a Cubs fan since i was 5 or 6. That being said with their rebuilding I have been faced with a dilemma, so many prospects. I myself have turned to Leaf & Panini for my prospect auto needs. I recently won a bid for Kyle Schwarber's 2014 Leaf Valiant Die-Cut Orange Honor Gaurd auto for 27$ and change. It's a beautiful card and #'d /25. His Bowman Draft orange refractor auto, the bid is up to 850$ Or so on eBay. His Bowman Sterling auto is going for 35$ or more and they are just ugly this year. It's madness. Leaf & Panini designs are so much better in my opinion as well. I get that it's usually the first card of said prospects in their big league uniforms compared to blank jerseys from leaf or panini. But does that really justify the difference. I know I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth here but I just don't get it. I also have Kris Bryant's metal draft state pride auto, among other leaf and panini autos, and the state pride auto is just cool compared to the bowman base of his. There are certain sets Topps puts out that their counterparts have tried and failed to compete with like Gypsy Queen and A&G both of which I am a big fan of, but I think they are way overrated on the prospect scene. Am I just not getting something here? Has anyone else made the switch?

People go mad for their Bowman Chrome!! I was once like them. I used to buy a case or two of chrome every year. Way to many inserts in there for me now. Used to build several sets with a case now with all the inserts and poor collation your lucky if you get one set. The prices of the cases for over hyped guys like Harper have driven me away. Its to much of a gamble for players that could be bagging groceries in a couple of years. I only occasionally pick up prospect autos now and leave the case busting to others. Dave

I'm still a fan boy of Topps/Bowman products. I just can't find it in myself to buy any unlicensed products that does not show the players in their professional uniforms & sporting the team logos. To me Leaf & Panini products are bland & missing flavor.
