Long shot here but I am one of the 3 or 4 collectors around the country who completed all 8100 cards in the 1998 Topps TEK set (90 different patterns of 90 players).
There is also a parallel diffractor set of another 8100 diffractor cards. After comparing "Have lists" of dozens of collectors of almost 5,000 diffractors in collections nobody has a single Pattern# 49 of any of the 90 players.
I called Topps customer service who was pretty much of no use. In fact they looked it up and referred me to baseballcard.pedia or cardboardconnection.com to assist.
I know Topps through the years has screwed up by either not printing cards or for a few years not having a # 7 card as a tribute to Mickey Mantle.
So does anyone have any inside regarding whether or not pattern # 49 was not printed from 1998 Topps TEK?
IN addition there has been alot of debate one particular trade site message board of avid TEK collectors still working on their 90 card favorite player sets as to how many diffractors there were made of any specific pattern like card# 23 pattern # 77 or card # 82 pattern # 88, not those specific ones but just to illustrate how many cards might exist or be made of any one specific diffractor pattern. Guestimates are between 10 and 25 but nobody has any real idea. The diffractor are severely undervalued by Beckett Online an Monthly Price guides which lists them (and hasn't changed for ten years) at 5x base ($6.00 for commons) but even commons typically sell now for $ 15-$25 and star players like Jeter and Ripken go for $ 100 or more and fanatic Juan Gonzalez collectors pay $ 150 per Juan Gonzalez diffractors
So any idea of existence of diffractor pattern# 49 or how many individual pattern of each diffractro exists for Topps TEK?
I still pick up 98 TEK patter# 1s and same Card# pattern # Teks for a couple 90 card sets separate from 8100 Master set. Anyone have any by chance?
