  • Yankees Pitcher Throws Something Special

We have heard of switch hitters before, but this is something special. Yankees Pat Venditte is ambidextrous and threw off the mound today as a right hander and as a left hander. There have only been five different ambidextrous pitchers to throw for teams in the 19th century.

A few years ago when I played softball for my old work, a guy on our team was ambidextrous. It was crazy just watching him warm-up.

If he makes the major league roster and they put him a videogame, that would be something really cool.

The outing created some excitement in the stands, but also some confusion in the Yankees dugout, where Sabathia displayed an unfamiliarity with the Yankees' unique farmhand.

          From the LoHud Yankees Blog:

When he came out of he game, Sabathia saw a left-handed pitcher coming in from the bullpen. Then he saw a right-handed pitcher on the mound.

"I was like, maybe that guy got hurt," Sabathia said.

Good thing the Yanks aren't paying CC for his memory, huh?
