Los Angeles Dodgers add reliever Joe Blanton - Los Angeles - Dodgers Report- ESPN
LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers signed right-hander Joe Blanton to a one-year contract on Tuesday. The deal will pay Blanton $4 million.
Blanton, 35, started 10 games for the Dodgers after he was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies in 2012 and went 2-4 with a 4.99 ERA, but he was far more effective once he converted to relief work last season after missing most of the 2014 season. Blanton went 7-2 with a 2.84 ERA with a nearly 5-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 36 games for the Kansas City Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates last year.
Blanton threw his slider nearly 32 percent of the time last season, according to Fangraphs, easily the highest reliance on that pitch in his career.
