The New York Yankees traded pitcher Ivan Nova to the Pittsburgh Pirates just ahead of the trade deadline Monday for a couple of players to be named later.
Nova, 29, was hit hard in his last start for the Yankees on Friday night giving up five runs and six hits over 4 1/3 innings against the last-place Tampa Bay Rays in a 5-1 loss. The setback dropped his record to 7-6 on the season while raising his ERA to 4.90.
