His contract is probably up after this season. Besides he doesnt have the greatest track record for a General Manager.
Good Moves
Drafting Danny Granger with the 17th pick in the 2005 NBA Draft.
Reacquiring Al Harrington from the Hawks for a 1st Round Pick and cash
Bad Moves
Trading Ron Artest to the Sacremento Kings for Peja Stojakovic (Regardless of the Brawl, he could have gotten a better deal for Artest giving his modest contract and skills)
Drafting Shawne Williams with the 17th Pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. (Rajon Rondo was still available)
Trading Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson to the Golden State Warriors for Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy. (Dunleavy and Murphy had longer and more expensive contracts)
Not trading Jamaal Tinsley when he had some value. (They ended up buying out his contract)

Sometimes instead of outright firing someone, especially a legend like Larry Bird, a team will do it in a way where both sides will save face. Maybe they told him behind closed doors that they wanted to move in another direction. This way it can be seen that when Bird steps down/doesnt sign a new contract, it was his decision to leave and that the team didnt force him to leave.

You mean we might get a GM who doesn't only draft/trade for white players, LOL.

You also have to take donnie walsch into consideration. He was the main decision maker in the pacers front office until he left for the knicks. With that said, I'll be happy to be rid of bird too
