  • Ricky RUubio BUM or bust?

I am wondering how you guys feel about this timberwolves draft pick. I just saw his statistics on ESPN in the two leagues overseas and they are pathetic for a first round draft pick (4- under 7 points....3-4 assists).. PEople sight the awards he has won, but it looks to me as though the teams have won the awards.

I just wonder if he will be around long. His field goal percentage was 31% adn 31.8%...which is also bad for a 1st round #5 pick.
I guess the upside is his age being 20 years old with six years of PRO experience
Will his stats go up or down in the NBA?? and if he is the reason for his European teams awards, will the Twolves be a playoff team with him?

I think his assissts will go up since he'll be playing with more athletic teammates, points around the same, and field goal percentage....down if that's possible!!!

based on the title.. I think he has a chance to be a lesser than Vinny Del Negro..but I lived in Barcelona for awhile and always think poorly of their products (Juan Carlos Navarro-- WHere's he? Gasol brothers-- like MArc now) I just don't care for Spanish players after living there and seeing the lack of competition around the City of Barcelona

Euro basketball is more constricted, which is why the stats are so low. With more freedom in the NBA he could excel as a pass first PG. As long as he doesn't shoot he'll be fine lol.

That's funny stuff... I know Brandon Jennings didn't do much stat wise in Europe because of the system and had a great Rookie year in the NBA... Rubio will definitely throw more alley -oops over here!!

i see his assists being around 7 or 8 a game if he gets the playing time which he should get...a 12 pt/8 assist average seems to be a guess....seems to me he is gonna be in the mold of a older Jason Kidd but with more speed.

Being he'll be a Twolve, I dont see him having much success, due to them having 3 trillion point guards and all lol

I think he will be a huge bust. He numbers in Europe were not very good at all.

Rumors are the Timberwolves are trying to get Pau Gasol. I dont think Lakers would trade him, but if the Wolves are dumb enough to offer Kevin Love, the #2 pick next week, Jonny Flynn, and filler, Lakers should jump all over that trade.

WOW!! The last thing I want to see is Love as a Laker! I like him but as a celtics fan it will be a bit harder to like him as a laker.. I agree that would be completely idiotic. I think Gasol for Love straight up would be a bad move for the Wolves.. Love was great and is going to keep getting better!!

I watched a lot of Rubio's highlights too.. he can not jump and attempts to steal the ball too much with a bucket usually resulting from it, at least against team USA.

The Wolves would NEVER do that... they'd need the Lakers to add at least Steve Blake and all the other backup Point Guards the Lakers have lol.

The Wolves can have Steve Blake, actually they can have Luke Walton. LOL!

If Bismack Biyombo can be a potential superstar and greatest possible Detroit Pistons player ever, Rubio will be fine

KEy2Win--thanks for posting his complete stats... I can't believe his 3 point percentage is sooooo low. Isn't the NBA 3point line a few feet further back?? I don't even think he'll have NBA 3 point range...
