Roster Movements Of Your Favorite Team

I started this thread so everyone can give their opinion on any roster movements of your favorite team. What signings, trades, or drafting of players did your team do that you either liked, disliked, loved, or regretted? We can go as far back as long as your favorite team has been around. This thread is not to discuss what future moves your teams should make, I started another thread on that.

I will start it off with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Worst Trade - The worse trade ever was trading Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins to Washington for Kwame Brown and Laron Profit.

Best Trade - On the flip side of it, the best trade ever came from trading Kwame Brown, Marc Gasol, Javaris Crittenton, and Aaron McKie to Memphis for Pau Gasol.

Draft Picks - I know draft picks can go either direction, but considering they already drafted a high schooler in Andrew Bynum, the Lakers had a chance to draft high school standout Monta Ellis in the second round. Instead they drafted Von Wafer, who they later waived and became a major spark for the Rockets last season. Monta Ellis was the next player selected after the Lakers chose Wafer.

Worst Signing - To me, it has got to be the decision to give Kwame Brown a 3 year $27 million contract in the sign and trade deal. The Lakers didnt want to pay Caron Butler $8 million a season, but yet they paid Kwame $9 million per season.

Cavs....

Worst trade - The Cavs haven't made too many really bad trades recently....back in the 70's and 80's is another story, but that's irrelevant since I wasn't even around, lol. I'd say the worst trade was in the late 90's when we sent Terrell Brandon and our 1st round pick to the Bucks for Shawn Kemp. Kemp was slow, fat, and completely worthless once he got to Cleveland, but it was 'Shawn Kemp', and the FO didn't think twice about trading away one of the best PG's in the game to sell a few extra tickets because 'Shawn Kemp was in Cleveland.'

Best trade - Trading Joe Smith (who was bought out and came back to Cleveland the same year) and Damon Jones for Mo Williams. Basically, the Bucks gave us Mo for free, since neither Joe Smith or Damon Jones ever played a minute for the Bucks. Not bad when you can get an All-Star PG for absolutely nothing.

Draft picks - Haven't really agreed with a lot of their recent picks, although getting Gibson in the late 2nd round three years ago was a nice move. I like the 2nd rounder used on Danny Green this past draft, but the Cavs have passed up on some legit NBA talent for some players who never played a game with the Cavs.

Worst signing - Larry Hughes. Could've gone after Michael Redd (at the time still a superstar) or Joe Johnson, but instead we gave $70 million to Larry Hughes.

Pistons, this is all recent because i am young lol

Worst Trade- Chauncey Billups for Allen Iverson. We all know what happened with this, Chauncey continued to be a stud in Denver, and well, Iverson crushed his career by his selfish actions.

Best Trade- 3 way deal back in 2003-04. Pistons recieved Mike James & Rasheed Wallace, Hawks recieved Lindsey Hunter, Bobby Sura, & Zeljko Rebraca, Celtics recieved Chris Mills. Pistons easily won this deal, winning the championship that year, Mike James played awesome off the bench and Rasheed kinda held his temper enough to contribute.

Draft Picks- Worst draft pick, easily Darko Milicic, when you could've had DWade, Carmelo or Bosh before this nut job, you know its bad. However it could be said, that Detroit had such a solid team there was no need for them, after all they won the championship the year of the 2003 draft.

Worst Signing- Ben Gordon, yes its very current, put a 5 year 55 million dollar deal for a bench player?!?! Was that really neccessary?

Jeremy - I remember that 3 way trade with Milwaukee, Seattle, and Cleveland. Vin Baker went from All Star to downhill after the trade. Shawn Kemp, who was one of my favorite players when I first started collection, went from superstar to downhill after the trade too. Terrell Brandon went from All Star to getting injured a few years later. All three teams would have been better off if that trade never happened. I loved the Mo Williams trade. They basically got him for next to nothing. The Gibson draft pick turned out good and he signed a long term deal for a reasonable amount. I also hated the Larry Hughes signing, I thought that for sure Michael Redd was bound to sign with them.

Dan - I agree that Joe Dumars could have gotten a lot more for Chauncey than he did. At least get future multiple draft picks for it if you were doing a fire sale. Yeah I remember that trade very well. I was cursing out Danny Ainge for helping Detroit get Rasheed Wallace and beating the Lakers that year for the title. If only Detroit got over Tayshaun Prince, they should have drafted Carmelo and imagine how awesome their team would be today. I dont think that the Ben Gordon signing was bad. It may seem a lot to pay someone $11 million to come off the bench, but he is capable of scoring 20+ points per game and is one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA.

Who foreshadowed though

A) The Pistons would end up getting the #2 pick
B) Carmelo only going to college for one season
&
C) The Pistons having a solid SF

Tayshaun is certianly a quality player, but if we could've seen what would happen in 2009-10, i'm sure Dwade would be in Detroit...

Also we'll have to disagree on Gordon, someone who cant really create his own shot, his teammates create that shot, we already have someone exactally like him, Rip Hamilton

It was a great move to trade Otis Thorpe to the Vancouver Grizzlies during the 97-98 season for that future first round pick which became the #2 pick in the draft. But on the bright side, Dumars was able to trade Darko to the Magic for a future first round pick which became Rodney Stuckey.

OKC thunder, ALL VERY RECENT

WORST TRADE: I can't think of one right now

BEST TRADE: Gave up draft rights to someone playing in Germany (not close to NBA) for Eric Maynor. They also are responsible for Matt Harpings 6.5m but he won't report to Thunder

BEST DRAFT PICK: I think It's taking James Harden over Ricky Rubio. Rubio is going to be a big contract headache when he comes back in 2 years and Harden has stepped in as a force off the bench.

WORST SIGNING: We don't really have a bad signing that I can think of right now
