  • 1992 Dream Team Vs 2012 USA Team

The players on the 2012 team yesterday said they think they could beat the original dream team.

Honestly even with Dwight, Wade, Bosh, and Rose instead of Harden, Iguodala, Chandler, and Westbrook no way this team beats the original Dream Team. With the exception of Christian Laettner, the other 11 players are all Hall of Famers. It should have been Shaq, then all 12 players were Hall of Famers. Only reason Laettner was chosen was because he won the NCAA Championship. Magic and Bird were injured and not in their prime years. At everyone's peak, original dream team wins.

    1992 Dream Team
    Charles Barkley
    Larry Bird
    Clyde Drexler
    Patrick Ewing
    Magic Johnson
    Michael Jordan
    Christian Laettner
    Karl Malone
    Chris Mullin
    Scottie Pippen
    David Robinson
    John Stockton

    2012 USA Team
    Carmelo Anthony
    Kobe Bryant
    Tyson Chandler
    Kevin Durant
    Blake Griffin
    James Harden
    Andre Iguodala
    Lebron James
    Kevin Love
    Chris Paul
    Russell Westbrook
    Deron Williams

It was mostly Kobe making that claim right? Either way, no contest in favor of the dream team.

To be fair, the media "baited" Kobe into the question. He is a competitor and probably spoke with his first instinct. However, I like Bird's response about how today's team probably could be the 1992 team, afterall, they are all 20 years older now and all in their late 40's.
