The Portland Trail Blazers targeted two Hall of Fame coaches for their vacant head coaching position and, according to a Comcast Sports Northwest report, were turned down by both.
Portland offered its coaching position to Jerry Sloan this week, according to the report. Sloan ultimately turned down the offer.
The Blazers also pursued Phil Jackson over the past few months, a source told Comcast Sports Northwest.
Blazers general manager Neil Olshey confirmed the team had talks with Jackson, but said, "He [Jackson] decided it wasn't time."
Jackson's agent, Todd Musburger, told the Blazers last week Jackson was flattered by the offer, but would not be coaching during the upcoming season.
