  • Nets Resign Kris Humphries For 2 Years $24 Million

2012 NBA free agency -- Kris Humphries, Brooklyn Nets agree to deal - ESPN New York

    Overpaid in my opinion.

Power forward Kris Humphries agreed to return to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, the team announced.

The Nets didn't disclose terms, but a source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that Humphries agreed to a two-year, $24 million contract.

Reason he got so much is because he will be used as a trade chip later on. The higher salary will allow the Nets to pick up a better player whose salary is high but has more years that the trading team is looking to get rid of. I think this could turn out to be a good deal depending on whom they deal him for. Starting next year Nets can't do sign and trades since they are over the cap so this contract is sort of like a way to circumvent that.
