  • Magic Trade Dwight Howard To Lakers In 4 Team Deal

Sources -- Dwight Howard-to-Los Angeles Lakers four-team deal complete - ESPN

    It is finally almost over!!!

A four-team trade that would send Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers is complete, multiple sources told ESPN on Thursday night.

A source with direct knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the Lakers will receive Howard, the Denver Nuggets will get Andre Iguodala, the 76ers will get Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, and the Magic will get Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic and one protected future first-round pick from each of the other three teams.

In addition, the Magic will be getting other pieces, including 76ers No. 1 draft pick Moe Harkless, a source told Stein.

Sources close to the process told Stein and ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne that a trade call with the league office has been scheduled for Friday to secure the necessary NBA approval to make the deal official.

Magic have to be getting more than what has been out there. Harkless, Vucevic, 3 1st rounders non-lottery is not even close to what they could get from Hou (who would have traded for Dwight even w/o extension) or for that matter the 4 1st round package the Nets were offering.

Magic didnt want to take on Brook Lopez. I guess Harkless and Vucecic are really good or have a lot of potential?

Magic just screwed themselves. At least get rid of Turkogulu as well. Afflalo is overpaid and Vecevic and Harkless don't make them a playoff team. The 3 1st rounders wont be in the lottery. Rockets could have cleared cap spae and given better assets

Dwight Howard is Finally A Laker

It's about time the Orlando Magic trade Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers.

They have a press conference set at 5pm to introduce their new big man. There is also word that Dwight will miss the beginning of the regular season due to his back injury.

I know he said he isn't going to sign an extension but I'm not worried about him going anywhere else to play. The Lakers can offer him the most money and they have a very good team around him. Why would he go play with Dallas for less money and just Dirk?

I can't wait for the NBA season to start. Tickets are going to be expensive but they've always been too expensive for me. I'll just sit back and watch it on my couch.

              Lakers press release:
The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired three-time Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic in a four-team trade, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. In addition to Howard, the Lakers will receive Chris Duhon and Earl Clark from the Magic while sending Josh McRoberts, Christian Eyenga and a future protected first round and 2015 protected second round draft pick to Orlando. Andrew Bynum will be sent to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Howard, the first player in NBA history to earn three consecutive Defensive Player of the Year Awards (2009, 2010, 2011), has been named First Team All-NBA in each of the past five seasons (Third Team in 2006-07), First Team All-Defense in each of the past four seasons (Second Team in 2007-08) and has made six consecutive All-Star appearances for the Eastern Conference (five straight starts).
Selected by the Magic with the first overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft out of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, Howard has appeared in 621 career regular season games, averaging 18.4 points, 13.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.01 steals and 2.16 blocks in 36.2 minutes. Owning the fifth best career field goal percentage (.577) in NBA history, Howard has finished ranked among the league’s top 10 in field goal accuracy in each of his eight NBA seasons while having led the NBA in total rebounds six times and in blocks twice.
A member of the USA Men’s Senior National Team that captured the Gold Medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, this past season, Howard appeared in 54 games, averaging 20.6 points, 2.15 blocks and career-bests in rebounds (14.5), assists (1.9), steals (1.5) and minutes (38.3).
“We’d like to thank Andrew for all he’s done for the team and the organization,” said Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak. “Andrew has been with us since we drafted him at seventeen years old and over the last seven years we have watched him develop into an All-Star player who has helped the team win two NBA Championships. He’s a special talent with a bright future. We appreciate all of his contributions and wish him well for the remainder of his career.”
“We also appreciate the contributions that Josh and Christian made,” said Kupchak. “Although they were only with us for a short period of time, they worked hard both on and off the court and were well respected by their teammates. We wish them the best of luck in the future.”

Even though we had to take the junk 2 year contract of Chris Duhon (who is probably worst than Derek Fisher), Earl Clark may be a good steal. Josh McRoberts and Christian Eyenga were irrelevant and expiring contracts.

Maybe Kupchak can work his magic again and get rid of Duhon and/or Blake and their 2 year contracts. LOL!

What do u all think of Bynum joining Sixers? Like to hear Laker Fans thoughts on Bynum leaving and how u think he'll be with the Sixers. (my fav by the way) I think we have the coach to handle him as much as one can anyway. Im not sure about him long term there. Will his knees hold out 4-5 yrs? Bigger question; will his attitude? I really don't know what to think of this. Been a fan of Sixers since 1980 and this is one of the big ones. I just don't know if they have the team around Bynum. I don't know if he stays there anyway. I know he can make more money if he does. I just hate watching him play when he has that bad attitude going. Lot of questions to be answered. What do u all think?
Fav. teams are Eagles, Astros, Flyers and Sixers. Prospects and rookies of any teams.
