  • Thunder & Serge Ibaka Agree to an Extension

Oklahoma City Thunder agree with Serge Ibaka on extension - report - ESPN

The Oklahoma City Thunder have locked up another of their core players by agreeing to a contract extension with center Serge Ibaka, according to a report.

Ibaka agreed to a four-year deal worth $48 million, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Considered an above-average defensive player, Ibaka would've been eligible to become a restricted free agent next summer.

Looks like Harden is gonna be the odd man out in OKC.

I think its a decent signing considering his age. Thunder need to sign Harden to an extension. I think they still have their amnesty waiver. They should either try to trade or amnesty Kendrick Perkins. He is overpaid and not the same player he was on the Celtics. He may be a good defender, but his numbers are getting close to Ben Wallace bad (near the end of his career number wise) and that is horrible.

They really need to trade Kendrick Perkins.

Serge Ibaka's base salary for his four-year extension is worth $49 million, with an additional $2.5 million in potential bonuses for achievements such as being named NBA Defensive Player of the Year and being on the All-Defensive first team.

Ibaka's salary impacts the ability of the Thunder to offer extensions to James Harden and Eric Maynor.

Ibaka finished second to Tyson Chandler in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
