  • Rockets Trade Thomas Robinson To Blazers

    Y! SPORTS

The Houston Rockets agreed to trade forward Thomas Robinson to the Portland Trail Blazers, Yahoo! Sports reported.

The Rockets needed to free enough cap room to offer Howard a maximum contract. They did that by shedding the $3.5 million contract of Robinson, the fifth overall pick in the 2012 draft, and not taking on any financial commitment in return.

According to the report, the Blazers will send Houston two future second-round picks and the draft rights to two foreign players, Kostas Papanikolau and Marko Todorovic.

The deal can't be completed officially until July 10, but it has been agreed to in principle.

After being drafted by the Knicks, Robinson was traded to the Rockets in a multi-player deal. He averaged 4.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 15.1 minutes per game as a rookie.
