Chuck Hayes will not sign with the Houston Rockets for the 15-16 season as expected.

"Due to limited roster flexibility and other financial considerations, Chuck Hayes will not be signing with the Rockets as previously announced," wrote Calvin Andrews to Yahoo. "Chuck is very interested in continuing his playing career although he has received multiple offers to accept NBA coaching/front office jobs.

"Chuck's near future plans are to go into a coaching/front office career, however, Hayes has spent a lot of time preparing and training for this upcoming season. Many observers have said he looks in better shape than he has in years.

"Chuck and his agents are exploring if there are other teams interested in him playing this year."

The Houston Rockets have signed Chuck Hayes.

Hayes had agreed upon a one-year deal with the Rockets and then ultimately signed with the Los Angeles Clippers in the offseason.

Hayes was waived by the Clippers after four preseason games.

Marc J. Spears reports Hayes' deal is non-guaranteed and he could end up in a coaching role.

The Houston Rockets have waived Chuck Hayes.

Waiving Hayes clears the way for Terrence Jones and Patrick Beverley to return.

Hayes could ultimately retire into a coaching staff role with the team, but is focused on continuing his playing career this season, sources said.
