Te Mavericks will send Jeremy Evans to the Pacers along with cash, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski,which will free up the room they need to re-sign Dirk Nowitzki to a two-year, $40 million contract.
Dallas liked Evans, which is why they gave him a two-year guaranteed deal in the first place. However, he was on the outside looking in all season and would have likely be in a similar role this year, even if he was more comfortable on the perimeter like the Mavericks tried to help him become. In Indiana, Evans could have a chance to play a bigger role, which is great for him and his career.
Either way, it was a move of necessity for Dallas, and likely one they only did because they had to.
