  • Kickoffs moved from the 30 to the 35

The NFL has approved the Competition Committee's proposal to move kickoffs from the 30- to the 35-yard line.

Two-man wedges are still allowed, but touchbacks will soar across the league. The idea is to improve player safety. Touchbacks will still be returned to the 20-yard line in the "modified" proposal. The Committee initially recommended to move them up to the 25-yard line and disallow wedges altogether

I'm missing this, they want to add 2 more games, yet think taking the kick return out of the game essentially will improve player safety?

they figure more teams will kick it out of the endzone instead of trying the pooch and pin guys back.

totally helps my specific team lol

dont worry, next year they will outlaw tackling the quarterback. He will be considered sacked if the defensive player puts two hands on him and yells "Fall down you pussy"

Well the 18 games won't happen unless the players are all for it. I think the owners have given up on that.

Way to take away one of the exciting things about football though! BOOOOOOOOOOOO

18 games? NO! 18 week season? YES! Give teams an extra bye week (2 total) so that they can rest up, plus it will allow for more games to be televised throughout the season.

I am for an 18 game season. I get no discount on my PSL for the preseason games. That actual people that pay for seasons are the ones that need to be compensated. I have not been able to give preseason tickets away.
The players are using the safety term as an unmbrella. It is like any law that has seniors or kids in it. Just throw out those terms and people swoon.

In the NFL say safety and people buy it hook line and sinker

It's 5 yards. Yah its going to lead to more touchbacks, but the players have less of a running start from what I'm seeing..

I think this is being blown up too much IMO.

Would've been a joke if they did that, for real
