Collecting advice

i need some help guys give me a top five of football and baseball collector sets i should focus on collecting! i like design but i want autos and hits like everyone else but i would like to know what is the top boxes everyone thinks gets you the most and best hits lets hear it guys!!

I don't bust new product very often... so I can't say which boxes give you the most and best hits... but based on design, I'd go with these:

Baseball:

1983 Topps
1995 Emotion
1997 EX-2000
1997 or 1998 Flair Showcase
1999 EX Century
2007 or 2008 UD Masterpieces

Football:
1989 Score
1991 Upper Deck
1995 Flair
1997,1998, or 1999 Flair Showcase

Pas of design, I love the look of the upper deck artifacts football or baseball
Playoff absolute memorabilia football
And crown Royale football

Well... the 1956 set is pretty expensive, but it has its share of vintage HOFers. The 1983 set has the Gwynn, Sandberg, and Boggs rookie cards. And for football, the 1989 Score set is loaded with HOF rookie cards... Sanders, Aikman, Thomas... the list goes on and on.

there is a guy over here that sells 80's and early 90's for 6$ each so should i take advantage of that while he has them?
