CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco considers Frank Gore's playing time "likely" to decrease following the 49ers' offseason running back additions.
The Niners return Kendall Hunter and Anthony Dixon, and they signed Brandon Jacobs before drafting LaMichael James in the second round. While fewer rushing attempts and receptions may help prolong Gore's career and per-play effectiveness to the 49ers. Gore may only be a 13-17 touch-per-game running back in 2012.

Jacobs obviously is going to be the goalline back. Not sure how much Hunter or Dixon are going to contribute or James for that matter. I don't see Gore getting less than 20 touches per game, 15 at the very least, he's to good of a back not to get at least that many.

I was high on Dixon and Hunter in each of the last 2 drafts. It's extremely crowded now. Each back has a certain skill set. It will definitely be something to watch.
