The Dolphins have announced they will appear on this season of HBO's Hard Knocks.
In typical Dolphins fashion, they got the gig after it was turned down by a host of other teams. Coach Joe Philbin says it was a "football decision," and "in the best interest of the organization to do it at this time." We're sure the first-year coach is absolutely thrilled. Off-air in 2011 because of the lockout, Hard Knocks became controversial following the Jets' (in)famous 2010 appearance. Although the show is viewed as an unneeded distraction by a large majority of teams, it's worth noting that each of the past two clubs to appear made the playoffs.
