  • Chargers sign Ronnie Brown to one-year deal

Chargers signed RB Ronnie Brown, formerly of the Eagles, to a one-year contract.
"He didn't have any juice last year, no burst," described 2011 Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah. Brown, 31, has managed 437 yards on his last 141 carries (3.099 YPC), over his last 24 games. He earned 42 touches in Philly all last season, sharing LeSean McCoy's backup duties with fifth-round rookie Dion Lewis. Brown does know Norv Turner's offense and can pick up the blitz, giving the Chargers some protection in case Ryan Mathews goes down.

I like the signing. Even though Brown wasn't very good last year and fumbled at inopportune times, he can be a good backup for the right price. He's not going to replace tolbert, but given the chance to spell matthews, he can do the job.
