Lerner sells Browns for more than $1 billion

Randy Lerner has sold the Browns to Tennessee businessman Jimmy Haslam for more than $1 billion.
Since the Lerner family acquired the Browns in 1999, they've gone 59-117 (.335) and posted a winning record twice. Haslam is the CEO of Pilot Flying J and previously was a minority Steelers investor. At that time, he described himself as "1,000 percent" a Steelers fan. Ex-Eagles president Joe Banner is reported to be among the purchasing group, which could lead to Mike Holmgren's exit.

Lerner was a POS. All he ever cared about was his soccer team over in England.

His father is probably rolling in his grave knowing his son got rid of the Browns as soon as he could. He waited until 10 years after his father passed, and BOOM. Out as soon as possible.

One league source tells Clark Judge of CBS Sports that new Browns owner Jimmy Haslam plans to "blow the whole place up," likely ousting team president Mike Holmgren and GM Tom Heckert.
Multiple outlets are reporting that former Eagles president Joe Banner will run football operations for Haslam. Although Holmgren has carried over the questionable personnel decisions from his GM tenure in Seattle, it was thought that Heckert might be safe due to his close relationship with Banner in Philadelphia. It can certainly be argued that Heckert deserves a chance to see the draft classes of the past two years develop. Holmgren is in the third year of a five-year deal that pays him $8 million annually.

Holmgren can go. As soon as he hired Shurmur (who can also go) I knew he didn't take the job to actually build a championship contender in Cleveland. He's just trying to help his friends out.
