Ryan Tannehill will start Friday's preseason game against the Panthers.
It's a sign that Tannehill has pulled even with incumbent Matt Moore in their quarterback derby. The rookie showed better than expected progress in the first preseason game, going 14-of-21 for 167 yards and a touchdown while playing with the second-stringers. A strong performance tonight while playing a full half with the starters would make Tannehill the heavy favorite to start Week 1. It would also leave David Garrard (knee surgery) on the chopping block.
