The Steelers have activated RB Rashard Mendenhall (ACL surgery) and NT Casey Hampton (ACL surgery) from active/PUP.
Mendenhall's activation is a pretty big shocker as plugged-in reporters such as ESPN's Adam Schefter and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette believed he was a lock to open the year on PUP. GM Kevin Colbert even stated that was the likeliest scenario. Bouchette suggested that Mendenhall came off PUP in a "desperation" move by a Steelers team riddled with running back injuries.
