Jets acquired RT Jason Smith from the Rams in exchange for RT Wayne Hunter.
From one turnstile to another. Like Hunter, Smith had been benched in St. Louis, and was on the roster bubble. The No. 2 pick of the 2009 draft will push undrafted free agent Austin Howard in New York, and likely become a part of the starting lineup at some point early in the year. Plagued by concussions, Smith appeared in only 29 games in three years for the Rams, and was a revolving door when he was in the lineup. He's not a major upgrade for the Jets' embattled offense. Hunter will back-up Barry Richardson in St. Louis.
