Rashard Mendenhall will participate in contact drills this week for the first time since tearing his ACL in early January.
"We'll thud him up a little bit the day we're allowed to carry our pads," coach Mike Tomlin said. The Steelers appear to be taking a gradual approach to Mendenhall's return. With a Week 4 bye on the horizon, neither the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette nor the Beaver County Times expects to see Mendenhall in game action before Week 5.
