Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said Thursday that he is lobbying hard to convince Tony Gonzalez to return in 2013, but said there is no deadline for a decision.
"A guy who is 36 catching 100-plus balls, it just doesn't seem like it's time for him to move on," Dimitroff said. "It's not going to be an easy decision for him one way or another because he knows that he still has fuel in the tank and it's very legitimate fuel in the tank." Dimitroff said he would like to know Gonzalez's decision sooner rather than later. The Falcons will need to sign the soon-to-be 37-year-old to a new contract if he does return, which still seems unlikely.
