49ers signed CB Eric Wright to a one-year contract and placed him on the active/non-football injury list.
The 49ers traded for Wright nearly three weeks ago, but he failed his physical and was released. Wright's ailment is undisclosed, but he's apparently close to being healthy enough to compete for a job. The Niners lost No. 3 corner Chris Culliver to a torn ACL last week, so Wright has an opening. He'll compete with Tramaine Brock, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Perrish Cox for playing time behind starters Carlos Rogers and Tarell Brown.
