  • Aaron Hernandez

I just saw the news regarding Aaron Hernandez. He is formerly indicted for murder. He could see a sentence to life in prison with no parol. He's only 23! Here is a man, that signed a contract for millions of dollars, has a newborn baby, a beautiful fiancée, a fantastic house, and a career with one of the best clubs in the NFL.

How can you throw this all away? If anything, it's his child that will suffer his bad decisions, what a way to start your life at 23. These people of fame makes me question how or why would you continue a life or path in the wrong direction. We all have our skeletons in our closet, but when you are given the opportunity at a second chance of redemption in life, and you continue in this patch, I have more questions than answers! Why???
I am easy, I collect any and all NFL cards. Individual players I really enjoy are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Andrew Luck, RGIII, and Russell Wilson. My passion is Favre rookie cards and vintage cards.

I do have a question to collectors. Due to my situation in regards to collecting (My recent start in December of 2012) what happens to cards of Hernandez? Do they hold value? Or do these cards of troubled athletes like Hernandez end up in a decline?

I know after he got arrested they exploded. I think they've come back down to Earth. They'll probably go back up again once the trial starts, but especially if he gets put away, they'll eventually drop.

The difference in Aaron and OJ is that OJ was a HOF'er , a TV/movie personality, and a popular icon to the football faithful. When all is said and done, Hernandez will just be some bum who thought he was above the law and had a couple of good years of football. He will have nothing statistically notable and definitely not anything than will allow him to even polish the busts at the Hall. The Patriots have already forgotten him as will collectors when all this is over. Another mark on him is that he has denied being involved in this tragic event and I think we are all tired of athletes who have no accountability in the face of obvious facts (A-rod, Braun, etc) Hernandez cards will eventually be used in bicycle spokes and no one will remember the great player he should of been.

The trial will most likely be next year sometime. I think the Hernandez bubble has popped for the most part in terms of his memorabilia being "hot" (which I personally think is ridiculous)

I briefly checked ebay when all of this hit the news and saw playoff and SB jerseys getting a lot of bids but didnt bother to really watch.

I also dont understand how people are supporting this guy outside of the court house. Kind of crazy. There is also a photo of him smiling today while sitting in front of the judge but wasnt sure about the context of the scene in which it was taken. Regardless the guy had a big time temper apparently and I dont see him getting out of this murder charge

A guy on another Forum had a Hernandez PC & sold after he got arrested b/c he didn't want to be associated w/ him any more & made over like 1200 bucks off his autos alone in the 3 or 4 days after.
