I moved here in October 2001, right after 9/11. I was the GM for Sea-grill at the Desert Springs Marriott Flag Ship Resort. I knew that the travel industry was going to be hit first and the hardest. We had a beautiful five bedroom three full bath home with a pool in Cathedral City. I first contacted my peers in various parts of the US to see how the job market was faring. It was not good! I've never been fired nor laid off in my twenty five years of employment and was not about to start.
We got a call from Mrs. Toshi's sister in Ashtabula, Ohio. She has been there for twenty years and said we could get a new start. We drove from Palm Springs, California all the way to Ashtabula, Ohio in a U-Haul truck! That was thirteen years ago, how time flies! Coming from Southern California, I was a big time city boy. I noticed how calm, collective, and friendly people were in Ohio. I wanted to choke everyone here. My deal was, hurry the F*** up, get the F*** out of my way, and go F*** yourself. I wasn't rude, I was in a mind set to go and take care of things ahead of everyone else or you'll so called fall into the "You snooze and you loose" situation!
It took me years to change my perception and attitude with life in Ohio. I have met the most friendliest people who will go out of their way to help others. Sure, there's some bad apples, but that's everywhere. One thing I noticed was the dedication and die hard attitude in Cleveland sports fan base. They could have a bad season, yet still be die hard fans. That's discipline!
Having been a resident for thirteen years here, I understand the sports fan base. So my last two threads here are in fun and by no means done in a way to hurt anyone. I will tell you this, rest assured, if the Cleveland Browns ever make it to the Super Bowl, the fans here would jump up and down so hard that California will fall into the Pacific Ocean!
Yours Truly,
Tim Couch! I mean Toshi LOL!
