  • Thoughts on 2012 Gridiron??

So, after my completely lucky breaks last week (see http://community.cardboardconnection...-13-elite.html for the story!), I am back to swearing off of 2013 products and going after only 2012 until the next season starts. This of course means I am scouring eBay, and other online retailers for decent deals. I recently stumbled upon a combo online; 1 box of 2012 Prime Signatures and 1 box of 2012 Gridiron for just under $100.

Now, most of the people that read my posts know that for me, card buying money is going to be in short supply for a while. This means I need to maximize my breaks for decent hits. I'm not so much concerned with selling my hits, but I do like to trade with the fine members of this forum. Looking at the promised hits in this combo, it looks like a definite minimum of 3 autos and 2 GU's for $100, which isn't too shabby… unless Gridiron is atrocious that is…

So, do any of you have any experience with 2012 Gridiron? What are your impressions of the product?

I like it personally but the main hit out of those is usually the pull out autos and lots of people don't really like those. The autos tend to fade written on the fabric. the base set looks fantastic though. I think several boxes in a case usually have an extra hit or two as well.

I love prime sigs. I wish they came with more cards.

Thanks for your thoughts! The idea of autos fading isn't great, but honestly, unless it is a PC hit I am probably trading it (unless it is a big money card… Luck, RGIII, etc.) or selling it… haha!

I love Prime Sigs as well. The cards look clean with the all white backgrounds, they have a nice card stock, and a good variety of players. Like you, I just wish they had more cards per pack/box!

As you are well aware, Panini did not release a 2013 Gridiron. I've only purchased retail Gridiron, so I can only give you my perspective on the retail product. I am a big fan of full color bleed. I also am a fan of a variety of hits. If your collecting tendency falls anywhere with these collecting habits, you will do fine with this combo. As for 2012 Prime Signatures, I have one word to describe this product, Fantastic!
I am easy, I collect any and all NFL cards. Individual players I really enjoy are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Andrew Luck, RGIII, and Russell Wilson. My passion is Favre rookie cards and vintage cards.

ive opened 2 boxes of 2012 hobby gridiron and both actually came from wall mart stores i live in eastern washington and there are no card shops so some hobby stuff gets sent to wallmart and fred meyers i paid 100$ per box

on the boxes it says 4 hits per box however i pulled 6 hits out of each box each box had 2 rookie autos /499 1 grid gems 3 patch /199 1 pull out auto /299 1 vet namplates /49 and the sixth card in each box was diff first box had a 3rd /499 rookie auto second box had a second 3 patch

my best on the boxes was /49 dez bryant namplate patch, and i got a /499 jonathin martin rookie auto the guy who got bullied off the dolphins roster by incognito

i prefer hits to be any player but /99 or less so i would say the hits arent much of anything special overall but what made me buy is the chance of a rg3/luck/wilson auto any of those would be worth the cost of the box alone if not double
