Bucs lure McCown away from CHI w/ 2-year deal
Bucs agreed to terms with QB Josh McCown, formerly of the Bears, on a two-year contract.
McCown is leaving quarterback whisperer Marc Trestman behind for a chance to compete for a starting job. New Bucs coach Lovie Smith has never been one for young players, and will likely give McCown every opportunity to unseat Mike Glennon. McCown's play as a 34-year-old journeyman was one of the best stories of the 2013 season, but a feat he's going to have major trouble repeating without Trestman's guiding hand. New Bucs OC Jeff Tedford is a quarterback guru in his own right, but has never coached at the NFL level. McCown is worth rooting for, but there's major bust potential here.Tags: None
