  • Raiders sign Donald Penn to man left tackle

Raiders agreed to terms with LT Donald Penn, formerly of the Bucs.
Five days after the Rodger Saffold fiasco, the Raiders have found their left tackle. Going on 31 with well-documented weight issues, Penn was cut by the Bucs last week, but is still a perfectly-fine left tackle. He's a massive upgrade on what the Raiders trotted out after Jared Veldheer's 2013 injury. However, Penn is not a long-term option for what is still the league's thinnest roster. GM Reggie McKenzie continues to throw all sorts of money at players over 30. It should make Oakland more watchable in 2014, but is not the way to rebuild a team.
