  • Mark Sanchez To Sign With Eagles

Quarterback Mark Sanchez joining Philadelphia Eagles - ESPN

Mark Sanchez, who was released by the New York Jets on Friday, is expected to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, a source told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

Sanchez is rehabbing from shoulder surgery, and the Eagles will have him undergo a medical evaluation as a condition of his signing.

He would be the third quarterback on the Eagles' roster, joining starter Nick Foles and backup Matt Barkley.

You do realize he was on the bench due to his season ending injury he suffered in the final preseason game correct?

          Not true at all.

From Wikipedia: Sanchez suffered a shoulder injury on August 24, 2013 in the Jets' third game of the preseason against the New York Giants after being tackled by Marvin Austin.[100] The Jets, who drafted rookie quarterback Geno Smith in the 2013 NFL Draft, named Smith the starter on September 4 with Sanchez still rehabilitating his injury.[101] On September 14, 2013, Sanchez was placed on injured reserve with the designation to return.[102] After undergoing shoulder surgery on October 8, 2013, it was announced he would miss the rest of the season.[103] After much speculation regarding his future in New York,[104] the Jets released Sanchez on March 21, 2014.[105]

          Not from Wikipedia anymore...

On 14 September 2013, the NY Daily News used the headline "A Star is Born", describing Geno Smith. It was the same headline used for Sanchez 4 years earlier.

Also, in the 2012 season, Sanchez was benched in favor of the sometimes 3rd string sometimes 2nd string Greg McElroy, even losing a start in the matter. He also had 32 turnovers that year, compared to just 13 touchdowns.

At the beginning of the 2013 preseason, Sanchez was never guaranteed the regular season starting job, and the quarterback battle was in full swing when he was injured. It was quite probable that he would have been on the bench at the beginning of the season, and almost certainly by the middle of the season.

I've seen plenty of "Sanchise" here in New York. Not a Jets fan but we get all their games here locally so I watch them more than I'd like to. Sanchez benefited from having a very dominant defense his first few years but he never grew as a QB, continued to make rookie mistakes after several years in the league. He's no good. All hype. He'll be out of the league in 2 years or less.
