  • Jared Allen Signs With Chicago Bears

Jared Allen heads to Chicago with a 4 year, $32 million ($15 million guaranteed) contract. I'm sure someone else will post a story link, I just wanted to beat key2win on this news... haha!

Thoughts on Allen going to the Bears?

Yes espn screwed this one up they had announced he signed with Seattle. Being a Vikings fan I was good with him signing there. Reason being at least another Viking would be going to the super bowl. With the Bears, and for less money than he said he would sign for to stay at Minny is upsetting.

Yeah, I'd count the Vikings as the third team I follow behind San Francisco and Jacksonville (I grew up in Minneapolis and St. Paul), so it's a little upsetting that he signed with a division rival for less money. The Vikes have a habit of alienating players though, so I have to wonder if that is what happened there, or if he just wanted a team with a "better" shot of going to the Super Bowl.

That is what he had been saying that is why Seattle made more sense. The Vikes supposedly were going to use him as a pass rusher only. He didn't want that so who knows for sure what happened. I think pride was the biggest thing that got in the way personally.

Oh no doubt! He is used to performing at a certain level, and wouldn't want to have reduced playing time. Seattle does make more sense. I heard he was also in talks with Denver, New England and a few NFC teams. I hate to see him leave Minnesota, he was one of the guys you can't help but root for on the Vikes, one of the few consistent bright spots.
