Panini messed up basketball cards. This is a huge loss for football collectors.

i agree. I don't buy boxes of Topps product but 2013 & what's been out so far in 2014 for Panini products has been extremely lazy. With them getting the exclusive, I can't see how any of that will change. I used to buy certified, limited & crown every year & they took the individuality that makes them unique out of it in 2013. Limited & Certified look the exact same. Heck, even Totally Certified looked very similar. Hot Rookies looks like a cross between prestige, Score, & select. It's kind of scary to see where the football market goes.

I'm mostly concerned about their use of the redemption card & how long they are willing to make a customer wait to received a card that they've already paid for.

I waited a year & a half for one before I was able to talk someone into sending me something (anything) else.

          Another for over 9 months.

And now I've been waiting for over 3 months to get a 2013 NT exchange fulfilled.

Never really had that problem with Topps (or even UD).

I think it will be a huge down slide for the Hobby as a lot of collectors enjoy collecting Topps & Upper Deck, I love getting hits as much as the other guy but the hobby is being flooded with Autos & Game-Used and its getting almost to expensive to buy hobby boxes and can't stand redemption cards that's one thing they need to do away with is redemptions! Panini has done a good job this year with Score & Prestige guess we will see what happens

I have to agree that that's going to be a large BUMMER for the hobby...Must agree with Brady that Panini is going to get lazier without competition for the collector's (i.e. our) money.

I can foresee that other than the overload of GU and Autos as mentioned that most of the sets across the Panini brands are going to be parallels of other sets...UUGGHH!!

Yeah, it's pretty insane to say "look for autos of Dan Marino (maybe one day), John Elway (will never happen) and Michael Egnew!!! When you know you've only got sigs from Michael Egnew...however, I don't think of this as a Panini exclusive problem...

All said, I had a Panini request from 2011 certified (Jim Brown Auto/Patch /25) that was fulfilled yesterday (I waited the six months for Jim Brown, put in a replacement request at 10 months, heard nothing back, left a voice mail in May 2014, expecting a call back that never came, but went online and saw they had responded online, back in May..once I understood the process they had a MONSTER replacement for me the day after I requested it (A Drew Brees Panini Black Auto, requested on Saturday, mailed on Monday)...all that said, it was probably their fault that the redemption took a year, my fault that it took 2 years, and by the time I finally learned how to properly request the replacement, Panini couldn't have filled it better.

I am very concerned/interested to see how these "Panini Points" are going to work out.

I shoot for any LSU/Saints Autos and Relic cards that I don't have one of yet, and am attempting to build a collection of every saints draft pick rookie ever, additionally certain /25 card sets and Topps Chrome Rainbows, of the man himself, Sir Drew Brees.

                    To bcw716,

Whenever there is an exclusive deal, there's a huge amount of dollars involved. With that being said, correct me if I'm wrong but this deal is for memorabilia only and not for football cards. As for your views in product design? I must say you are absolutely correct! You and I have the same taste as for products that are from Panini. For the first time ever in my life, I actually boycotted all of 2013 Panini products due to the factual statements made by you. Everything looked the same and or a design concept that was poorly orchestrated.

I'm still cautious and have held back on purchases of 2014 products as you can see by my thread on National Card Show in which I purchased a 2012 Absolute hobby box. I'm glad I did as you can see by the hit I received. I'm still leary in that what will be debuting and how a product will look.

This is such a controversial subject and I'm glad that you've taken the time to address this issue as well as request any feedback.

starting 2015, Panini will be the only maker of licensed NFL cards, meaning no Topps licensed products(I don't see them working airbrushed info like Leaf does).

This is an issue that I'm not on board with! As much as I am a staunch Panini fan, every season since I've first started collecting in 2012, I've always purchased Topps Chrome and Topps Platinum my all time favorite Topps product. The exclusive Panini scenario does not allow for a favorable outcome for collectors unless Panini comes out with some extremely outstanding cutting edge technological products. I already am not a fan of this points bullshit!!!! I prefer the redemption cards. We can only pray to the gods of football cards and see if this all comes to fruition in favor of collectors.
