  • Eagles Trade LeSean McCoy To Bills, Signs For 5 Years $40 Million

Philadelphia Eagles trade LeSean McCoy to Buffalo Bills - ESPN

The Philadelphia Eagles have a trade in place to send running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

In return, the Bills will send linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Eagles, the source said.

The trade cannot be made official until the new league year begins next Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. McCoy's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, took to Twitter to say the deal has not yet been finalized.

McCoy has the NFL's third-most rushing yards (6,792) and fourth-most rushing touchdowns (44) since he was drafted by the Eagles in the second round in 2009. He finished last season with 1,319 rushing yards, third-most in the NFL.

A source close to McCoy told ESPN's Josina Anderson that the veteran running back is not pleased with the move.

"He's a Pennsylvania kid. He's never played football outside of Pennsylvania -- high school, college, pro," the source said. "So of course he's not happy."

The source also told Anderson that McCoy is "frustrated" and is "not going to make it easy, that's for sure."

The Eagles are able to clear cap space by trading McCoy, who was set to count $11.95 million against their 2015 cap. The Bills will owe McCoy, who is signed through 2017, $10.25 million this season.

Interesting deal. The Eagles won't have to pay the large sum to McCoy now. I'm curious how McCoy adapts to Ryan's system.

As a Bills "fan" I was kind of excited by this trade, I just hope he comes to play!

A source informed ESPN's Josina Anderson that LeSean McCoy is "frustrated" over being traded to the Bills and is "not going to make it easy, that's for sure."
"Of course he's not happy," added the source. "It'll be interesting to see how this process plays itself out because he's an interesting individual. ... He was like 'why me?'" Some are leaving the door open to McCoy possibly refusing to go to Buffalo, leading to the Bills possibly pulling out of the trade prior to it officially going through when the new league year opens March 10. But in all likelihood, the Bills will hand McCoy a new contract with more guaranteed money through 2015 and 2016 and let coach Rex Ryan work his magic as a coach with the ability to convince his players to "buy in." Ryan's the ultimate players coach.

I'm a Bills fan, but not sure how this deal makes me feel. In a way, it becomes Kiko and CJ Spiller for Shady McCoy. I have concerns about Shady's health. Add in his strange personality and being a baby about the trade, and I have concern.
