    Jimmy Garoppolo

    Can anyone explain to me why his cards are so expensive?
    I mean, was he all the hype coming out of college?
    Has he done something in his limited preseason playing time to warrant this?
    Do people really think he is going to play for the Patriots at some time in his career?
    Is it because he knows Tom Brady?

    I mean, Mallett was the same thing when he came out, now look! I don't know, I guess I just don't understand it. I have some of his stuff, but got a lot of it from a buddy of mine, and a bunch of lower end GU and such. Just seems crazy to me!

    Collecting any Boston Sports (base,insert,GU,Auto) All Teams (Red Sox,Celtics,Patriots,Bruins)
    Also collect UNH Football/Hockey cards
    Also now collecting any cards including all dupes of all the following :
    MLB : Brian Wilson (Giants, Dodgers), Chris Carpenter (Blue Jays, Cardinals), Sam Fuld (Rays), Mike Flanagan (Orioles, Blue Jays), Phil Plantier (Padres, Red Sox), Jeff Locke (Pirates)
    NFL : Kendall Reyes (Chargers), Greg Landry (Lions), David Ball (Bears), Jerry Azumah (Bears), Dwayne Sabb (Patriots), Dan Kreider (Steelers), Ricky Santos (no pro cards)
    NBA : Matt Bonner (Spurs)
    NHL : Steve Leach, James VanRiemsDyk, Jason Krog, Eric Boguniecki, Andy Brickley, Ty Conklin, Kevin Dean, Rod Langway, Bryan Muir, Daniel Winnik
    I unfortunately can no longer afford to trade outside the US. Even rates to Canada are way too high now!

    It might have something to do with how long Brady has been at the controls. Folks might see Mr. Garoppolo as his replacement.

    Mallet was seen in that light, but Tom snuffed it out pretty quickly.

    Just my thinking on your question.

      I guess I could see that for sure. It just bites as it is nearly impossible to get anything good of his at this point! Maybe I should go back to collecting Mallett again!

        I noticed the same thing when Colt McCoy was drafted by the Browns. He was average in college and has been worse in the NFL. People still demand high value through sale or trades. This happens with many young quarterbacks. It's crazy.

          I am seeing the same trend in Logan Thomas stuff...He wasn't stellar or consistent in his years at Tech and I have scored a couple of deals but so much of his stuff is stratospheric in pricing...

          Michael Vick was much more consistent and deserving of some props on the field...just keep your pets close by...

          Do you think it is less about current or past performance as much as hoping on future performance?

          I remember several other players who weren't highly touted as draft picks but their cards (granted in the 90's) were outrageous...and it wasn't just Hokies for sale near Blacksburg and Roanoke...

          Baseball - Mike Williams, Franklin Stubbs, Jesse Hahn, Joe Saunders, Brad Clontz, Kevin Barker, Wyatt Toregas - Major or Minor Leaguers!
