Why would I bet on starting pitching? Anyone can have a God awful season, even the best pitchers of all-time have. I don't bet on anything that isn't a sure thing.

Define that? Buccholz can go 15-9 with an ERA of 3, but i'd consider that better than going 18-9 with an ERA of 4

It's a fact. Any SP can have a horrible season. Furthermore, why would I bet on guys I don't give two damns about?

No..I don't care about strikeouts or wins, I care about ERA and WAR (Wins above Replacement)

You know Buccholz is better than Burnett, if you think Burnett is better, you'll bet on who has a better season (AKA ERA)
