Sam Hornish Jr. won the Nationwide race at Phoenix earlier today for his first career win in any of NASCAR's top-3 divisions. He held off Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards for the win. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished 5th, while Elliott Sadler was wrecked out of the race.
Stenhouse now has an insurmountable 41 point lead heading to Homestead, virtually guaranteeing him his first Nationwide Championship.
(No Nationwide race has had less than 6 start & parks this season, so even if Stenhouse was the first guy wrecked out, he'd still make enough laps to finish in 37th, which would earn him 7 points. Even if Elliott Sadler won the race and earned the maximum 48 points, they would end the season in a tie in this scenario. Since Stenhouse has more victories, he would win the tiebreaker and the title. So even though it's not official, it's a guarantee.)
