The main event of UFC 142 saw Jose Aldo knockout Chad Mendes to retain the Featherweight Championship in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The co-main event saw Vitor Belfort beat Anthony Johnson. All fights on this card had at least 1 Brazilian fighter involved. The Carlo Prater Vs Erick Silva bout ended in controversy. Referee Mario Yamasaki disqualified Silva because of several shots that he thought hit the back of Prater's head.
