  • 2012 Michigan NASCAR Races - Travel Advisory

Are you planning on going to the races at Michigan International Speedway this year?

Are you traveling SOUTH on US127? Check this advisory.

Start: March 2012 End: August 2012
    What we are doing:

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will replace the M-50/McDevitt Avenue bridge over US-127 in Jackson County. The new bridge will include a nonmotorized path on the south side of M-50/McDevitt Avenue.

Construction is scheduled to start in early March, with the M-50/McDevitt Avenue bridge expected to close in mid-March, weather permitting.

The bridge is expected to reopen by mid-August, prior to the last NASCAR race of the season at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

    How traffic is affected:

During construction, the M-50/McDevitt Avenue bridge will be closed with a detour posted.
Eastbound M-50 traffic will be detoured south on US-127 to a temporary traffic signal just south of Floyd Avenue. Using a temporary turnaround, motorists will then follow northbound US-127 back to M-50.
The westbound M-50 detour will direct traffic to the ramp to northbound M-50 (Brooklyn Road), then south at the flashing light to southbound US-127 back to M-50.
One lane of US-127 will be open in each direction during construction.
In addition, US-127 will be closed during nighttime hours up to a maximum of 6 nights over the entire summer for bridge demolition and beam setting. A detour will be posted. (Night time closure dates have NOT been released)
