Alberto Del Rio Returns At WWE Hell In A Cell, Beats John Cena
Alberto Del Rio is back with WWE, and for the first time since his memorable rookie year with the company, he felt new.
Del Rio, who was fired in 2014 over an altercation with a WWE employee, challenged United States champion John Cena and didn’t miss a step.
The former WWE champion, accompanied by a returning Zeb Colter, became the first man to win the United States Championship during Cena’s open challenge.
With Cena rumored to be taking time off, Del Rio—among others—will have huge shoes to fill in his absence. Raw is currently in shambles, and without WWE’s biggest star WWE would have an uphill climb to atone for record-low ratings, which sank to 2.21 this past Monday.
The timing couldn’t be any better for Del Rio’s return. WWE now has a refreshed big-name wrestler who made a name for himself as the star of the critically acclaimed Lucha Underground series.
