It's less than 2 weeks into the new year and I've already completed my first blog trade. At this pace, I should complete forty trades in 2014. Realistically, I'll be happy with ten to fifteen over the next 12 months.
The fact is... I'm terrible at trading for four simple reasons:
1. My trade bait is unorganized.
2. I don't have a lot of free time to reach out to other bloggers and work deals.
3. I'm lazy.
4. I get easily distracted and will often forget who I'm trading with.
Thankfully, Gavin over at Baseball Card Breakdown reached out to me after I showed an interest in his 2004 Topps Retiredautograph of Dennis Eckersley on one of his posts.
Here's what the card looked like when it arrived at my doorstep...
And here's what it looked like after I freed it from its holder...
I totally have a crush on this card. Everything about it is amazing... the on-card autograph, the card's simple design, the great action shot, and of course the old schoolTopps'logo.
In addition to the hall of fame autograph, he also included two of his very cool glow in the dark cards:
Unfortunately... either my camera or the cameraman himself sucks, because I couldn't capture a good shot of the glow in the dark action. So I guess you'll have to trust me when I say that they're pretty amazing and nice additions to my collection.
And finally... if that weren't enough, he also sent me a few extra cards for my Oakland A's and San Diego Padrescollections. Here are a few of my personal favorites:
Thanks Gavin for the awesome trade. The Eckersleyautograph is pretty sweet... but those two 1 of 1 signatures are just a wee bit sweeter.
Happy Thursday and sayonara!
