For 5/29/14 forum members,
I picked up some interesting and unique items during the last week or so. My theory is this, you can only open so many hobby boxes. At least that's the case for my personal collection. Forum members know, I live off of all 2012 products. As they say; "Too much is not always a good thing, moderation in times is the best direction"! So I ventured forth and thought about what was unique as well as an item I do not have in my collection.
Every time I saw an item via eBay, I hit the watching tab only to wait a few days prior to any purchases. I asked myself first and foremost; "Is this going to make money"? Now now, I haven't changed my mantra of I collect to collect. Although I am not an idiot, (Mrs. Toshi says otherwise) I do understand that once I pass on, it would be nice for my heirs to not only have a momento, but to have a momento of value. My other question to myself is what can I buy at this price? My final comment is is there a much more valuable or unique item at the same price?
My first item is a 1996 Ted Williams Johnny Unitas card valued at $0.75. In this instance, my newly acquired card falls under the catergory of a TTM. I am attempting to start a TTM collection, this is my first. The only difference is that since the passing of Johnny Unitas, I had to purchase a card prior to his death with his auto. I've always wanted to own a Unitas auto as he is the best quarterback to ever play the game and the fact that his penmanship is one of the most artistic styles out there among athletes. My finale will include that this card be sent in to Beckett for authetification purposes. If authentic, this $0.75 card could be correctly estimated between a low of $150.00 to a high of $200.00. I can only be patient and see this come to fruition.

I also received this card as a bonus, if I'm correctly reading my Beckett catalog, it's like deciphering the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hamadi, this is a $28.00 card. My total expense for these two items? $35.00. Not bad at all! This card is numbered 40/50.
