Since there are still working out some pieces, it is rumored that the Lakers will be getting Emeka Okafor as well. I would be ok with that. For salaries purposes, the Hornets have to be giving up someone other than CP3 since they are getting 3 players. With Okafor at the 4 and Bynum at the five, if the Lakers cant trade for Dwight, they will still be ok. Okafor makes like $10 million a year I think and has 3 years left, but he is a beast on defense. Like Bynum, he also has a history in injury problems though.

How can a deal be blocked if other owners complain. That is crap.

ESPN said that since the Hornets are owned by the NBA, some owners complained and it is on hold/off as of right now.

I'm glad the NBA stepped in and prevented superteams from the get-go.

                    Nice work Stern!

Too many stars on the Lakers is going to cramp Kobe's style (Closer=Passing up everyone else to take the last shot aka hogging the ball). He might have scored some rings with Shaq, but Kobe and Magic centers don't mix.

Its going to be wierd for the all the players tomorrow when they have to report to training camp knowing that their team tried to trade them the night before.

Reports say that Chris Paul wont show up for the Hornets camp and is going to talk to the players' union. LOL!

If they block this trade, technically they will then have to block any trade involving Chris Paul then.

They stopped it for this year. However multiple super teams are 1 year away. So cp3, Derron Williams and superman become free agents and are signed by same teams that are coveting them. Just suppressing the inevitable

Still being reworked with the same teams. Lets see where this goes now.

Lakers pull out of trade. Deal is now dead. Per ESPN.

The Lakers have pulled out of three-team trade talks that would have netted them Chris Paul.

The NBA rejected an agreed upon trade on Thursday between the Lakers, Hornets and Rockets. The Lakers agreed to acquire Paul in exchange for Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom. Houston would acquire for Gasol while sending Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic and a first round pick. The Hornets would receive Odom, along with Martin, Scola, Dragic and the first round pick.

Sources say the Lakers will instead trade Odom to the Mavericks for their traded player exception that was acquired from the Knicks for Tyson Chandler.

The Lakers were unable to meet the demands set by the NBA and will not pursue a direct trade with the Hornets, according to a source that spoke with Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Ok I find it very hard that the Lakers would trade away one of their best players (Lamar Odom) to their main Western Conference Rival (Dallas) and only get the Trade Exception UNLESS that means they already have a deal in place to trade Bynum and some future draft picks for Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu (absorbed from the Trade Exception).

But if this works, they essentially traded Bynum & Odom for Dwight & Hedo. As much as having Chris Paul would be amazing, I dont see Kobe and CP3 working well together. Dwight & Gasol will be scary. Plus Hedo replaces Odom.
